Cheap Holidays to Barbados
search for cheap holidays to BarbadosAlso known as the little England of the Caribbean, Barbados has become one of the most popular islands in the Caribbean, renoun for the super friendly people always smiling and ready to help you out, sugar white sandy beaches that are almost deserted, and calm blue waters that invite you in whether you want to swim, snorkel or just lounge to cool off.
The whole feel of Barbados is one of total relaxation so do not be in a hurry what ever you are doing, nothing is done at a pace here and you will soon fall into the Bajan way of strolling rather than power walking, queueing soon becomes not so much hassle, yes it's a million miles away from home.
Frequented by many famous people, especially in Sandy Lane famous for the golf, or Port St Charles where the rich moor their boats at private houses, this year round destination has something to suite most pockets from 2 star self catering to 5 star all inclusive luxury, although if you'd rather sample the real caribbean go for the self catering option as the food here is fantastic and cheap into the bargin. There are of course many restaurants that are recognised world wide such as the beautifully converted plantation house, Josephs or the newly modernised chic Champers, both of which offer seating with amazing romantic sea views and excellent food guaranteed to tantalise your taste buds.
Its not all beaches and watersports here, there is of course the cricket, or jump on one of the white crammed reggae buses for a ride like you've never had, packed with locals and tourists alike the steady beat of raggae tunes flow through the small transit like buses and everyone is expectec to join in, clapping and singing as you make your way to your destination. Bridgetown is definatly worth a visit if only for the shopping, here you will find many jewellery and diamond shops where of course everything is duty free, don't forget your embarkation card as you need it to get you good duty free.
If you have small children with you then take a trip to Ocean Park where there are huge aquariums of all types of colourful fish, sea creatures and even sharks. The touch pools are a favourite with the kids as they can get their hands right in and touch all kinds of sea dwelling animals, I'm sure you'll have trouble dragging them away.
Nightlife is centred around "The Gap" or to give it its full title St Lawrence Gap, a meandering road with bars, restaurants and clubs filling both sides all of which are open until the early hours.
There are of course bars and a couple of pub type establishments, there are even a couple of American style eateries springing up, but don't leave without visiting a true Bajan watering hole, the traditional rum shack here you are served white rum by the bottle, your mixer and a dish of ice, drink what you want and pay when you leave.
