Not as popular with tourists as its neighbours Turkey and Greece, this beautiful mountainous country has many scenic blue flag beaches, a great sunny climate and best of all it is extremely cheap too.

It is an all year round destination offering great ski through the winter months and top class beach resorts in the summer, although whatever the time of year the prices are still the same excellent value for money.

The best known beaches are in the popular tourist resorts of Golden sands and sunny Beach, each of which is served by its own airport, both have long stretches of soft golden sands and excellent safe swimming conditions. The best nightlife is also found in these resorts with plenty of bars and discos open until the early hours, on the other hand there is adequate choice of low key bars and tavernas offering great family style entertainment.

Bourgas airport serves Bulgarias largest and livliest resort, Sunny Beach which offers everything you would wish to find from your holiday location with a huge range of restaurants, cafes, watersports galore and even an amazing waterpark. You can find smaller more tradtional areas such as Nessebar where you can wonder the quaint cobbles streets while browsing shops selling local wares.

Varna airport is where you fly into if you are holidaying in the family friendly area of Golden Sands, the name says it all as the beach here is to die for. The busy promenade is packed with restuarants, bars and shops all with enveable sea views. For water sports enthusiasts head for the purpose built resort of Albena, Bulgarias sports capital is the ideal place to be if you are looking for a lively holiday or you can take it easy by opting for a stroll amongst the lush forest covered hills.

Eating out here is excellent value for money and part of the reason why families return here year after year drawn by cheap prices which are sometimes hard to beleive, eating out can cost as little as a few pounds a day for a family of four. The staple foods are grilled meat, potaoes and salads but there are many local dishes that are definatly worth a try.

There are plenty of excursions of offer, Khans tent has to be the most popular it is set in an elevated position with stunning views of Sunny Beach, here you will be treated to an excellent cabaret show and as much food and drink as you can could wish for. A real fun day out for the children has to be a visit to the amusement park in Albena where there is a great fun fair, kids disco, mini trains, inflatable trampolines and karting.
