Cheap Holidays to Lesvos

A warm welcome is sure to greet you when you visit the beautiful island of Lesvos, also known as Lesbos and Mytilini. Unspoilt beaches, stunning scenary and a wealth of archaeological sites are just a few of the reasons that people return here year after year, although it is still in its infancy where tourism is concerned which only adds to its charm.

The small busy city of Mytilini is hive of activity, the harbour is constantly awash with boats unloading their cargo, the busy main street is lined with cafe bars bursting at the seams year round. Locals from the surrounding villages congregate here to do their weekly shop at the big supermarkets or to haggle at the local market where locally caught fresh fish can be bought at amazingly low prices. Molyvos is the biggest tourist area on Lesvos, but it still retains the traditional greek village charm which is tastefull and authentic. The cobbled narrow streets are free from traffic making them the ideal place to slowly stroll while browsing what the local shops have to offer. Fresh fish is high on the menu at pretty tavernas and harbour side restaurants which offer amazing views of the sandy beach. Other resorts such as Anaxos, Petra and Plomari are generally uncommercialised and offer a couple of tavernas and a small selection of shops, although more and more holiday makers are begining to discover these lesser know areas of Greece.

A visit to the hot springs has got to be on the agenda, whilst they are refreshing and enjoyable they are also supposedly used to cure medical problems, well worth the small fee that you pay to enter the springs.
