Cheap Holidays to Rhodes

With over 300 days of sunshine a year it is no wonder that the versatile island of Rhodes has become a favourite holiday haunt for thousands of people of every age group from the young and trendy to families and couples, even the Greeks holiday on the aptly named Sun Island.

Rhodes offers many historical sites such as the stunning site of the Acropolis in beautiful unspoilt Lindos where the best way to reach this site is to climb aboard a docile donkey for the treck through narrow winding streets in the scorching heat, make sure to take some water for the walk back down. Visit Rhodes town with its medeival fortress, busy nightlife, cosmopolitan shopping or just to jump on a boat to take a trip to one of the smaller islands such as Simi. No holiday would be complete without a visit to the waterpark, situated just outside Falaraki the waterpark in Rhodes is a great fun day out with water chutes, water slides where you can race with friends or the water dome where everyone can climb aboard and race to the top, that's if you don't slip first.

This large island has many tourist resorts which are popular with holiday makers from around the globe, the most well known, and not always for the right reasons has to be Falaraki the party place to be if you are in the young 18 plus age group, lively Bar Street is where the majority of the open fronted bars can be found with music of all types pumping into the small hours. If this is not your scene then maybe one of the more relaxed scenic resorts is, such as cosmopolitan Ixia, the long sandy beach here is a haven for watersport enthusiasts and is only a short bus ride away from livlier Rhodes Town and a short taxi ride from the airport, or a small traditional Greek village would be your choice such as Pefkos where you can relax on what is probably the best beach in Rhodes or maybe sit outside on of the tavernas soaking up the friendly atmosphere sipping on a local brandy.

Designer copies are readily available on the island, be carefull when you purchase these as some are not as good as others, but if you like you top labels then you will be in your element with Gucci purses and Versaci hand bags in most every shop. Gold and silver jewellery is also a good buy as you will find lots of unusual designs you wont see at home and at a fraction of the price. The colourful local pottery which is on sale in most of the tourist shops makes a great souvineer to remind you of your holiday in Rhodes.
